At Tomorro, a field is a variable that you can insert into your templates. It allows you to ease the filling of contracts with your teams. It also allows you to track key information from the project or repository.

As an Admin of your company workspace, you can create custom smart fields that will enrich the list of standard Tomorro smart fields.

To do so, go to the "Dynamic components" tab, accessible from the main menu on the left:

Click on the button "Create component" then "New smart field". A side panel opens with the different information to complete to create your new field.

To create your new field, you need to :

  • Name the field - the name will be visible in the summary sheet and in the document if you insert this field in a template.

  • Add a help text (optional) - this help text will be displayed at contract creation or in the form to fill out the contract

💡 The help text allows you to give hints/instructions for filling in the field. This is how it will look like:

  • In the "Associated object" section, select one of the two options :

    • "Counterparty smart field", the field will be visible on the profiles of the contracting parties and the recorded values.

    • "Project smart field", the field will be only associated to each project.

  • Choose the type of field - you can choose among the 5 types of fields that exist: text, number, date, select, and multi-select with options.

ℹ️ To know the different types of fields and their use, it is here: Smart field types.

Once you have filled in all the information, simply click on the "Save this field" button at the bottom right.

To edit a field, click on it and modify the information from the side panel then save the changes.

In a template, for example, you can insert your fields so that they can be filled in by your counterparty or by you.

⚠️ Note that once a field is created, its type cannot be changed, so take the time to think about your fields. But you will be able to delete and then recreate a field if you made a mistake!

🙌 Shall we try it? We'll show you how to do it for real!
