When you create a new contract, you may find fields, or labels, in the body of the text. These labels - called smart fields on Tomorro - have been inserted by the admins who set up the template you're using.

👀 The benefits of these smart fields in the contract?

  • They guide you in identifying the information/variables that need to be filled in.

  • You save time in completing the contract thanks to a quick form to fill in.

  • The completion of the contract is made smooth and simple for both you and the contracting party.

Why are some fields in blue and others in yellow?

When your admins set up the contract template you used, they decided to assign the completion of the fields to one party or the other.

  • In blue: the blue fields in the contract are those assigned to your organisation. Only members of your organisation will be able to complete them via the form.

  • In yellow: the yellow fields in the contract are those assigned to the counterparty. Both you and the counterparty will be able to fill them in via the form.

The form is divided into two parts, the first part being the fields to be filled in by your organisation and the second the fields to be filled in by your co-contractor.

How to fill in the fields in the contract?

To fill in the fields in the contract - i.e. the places where there are labels - you have to open the form.

1- Open the form

  • Click on "Fill the fields" from the blue banner at the top of the page -> the contract completion form opens on the left side of the screen

  • Click directly on one of the smart fields in the contract -> the contract completion form opens on the left of the screen

2- Fill in the fields

The fields are to be filled in directly from the form that opens on the left of the screen.

It's very easy, just write in a field of the form. When you leave the field, what you have entered is automatically filled in the contract and replaces the colored labels.

Some fields are text fields, some others number fields (where you'll only be able to add numbers inside), and some others are drop downs.

🤔 Can I send the contract if not all fields are filled in?

You can of course send the contract to your counterparty even if not all fields are filled in, whether they are assigned to you or to the counterparty.

The aim is to be able to send your contract to the other party so that he can fill in the fields he has to fill in. However, you won't be able to start signing your contract if one of the fields assigned to you (in blue) has not been filled in.

🧐 Can I sign my contract if all the fields are not filled in?

First of all, it depends on the electronic signature you will use to sign your contract.

You are using the Tomorro signature:

  • Some of the fields assigned to you are not filled in: you will not be able to start the signature process until you have filled them in. The option to start the signature will not be available (see below).

  • Fields that are assigned to the contracting party are not filled in: you can start the signature. The contracting party will receive the contract for signature but will not be able to sign it until all fields have been filled in.

You are using the DocuSign integration to sign the contract

All fields must be completed in order to start the signature via our integration with DocuSign. If there are fields that the contracting party has to fill in, the contract has to be sent/returned to the contracting party in order to be able to start the signing process later on.
